Introducing

RP-VITA

A health care robot developed by iRobot and InTouch Health

A health care robot named RP-VITA developed by iRobot and InTouch Health allows doctors who may be thousands of miles away to interact with patients at their bedsides.

The robot stands 1.7 meters high and rolls around hospitals controlled by an iPad. The robot was designed to bring world class doctors and specialists to patients who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them.

ABOUT
The RP-VITA is a multi-faceted medical device platform that features Auto Drive and an iPad user interface that give it unprecedented ease of use and versatility for delivering high acuity telemedicine. RP-VITA merges seamlessly with existing hospital processes to provide state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities with a high-quality interactive experience. Furthermore, the RP-VITA platform was designed with a full range of clinical capabilities for delivering services like TeleStroke and TeleICU today that can be expanded to integrate patient data and enable other important clinical functions in the future.

Enhancing efficiency through ease of use and care coordination, RP-VITA sets a new standard of performance for delivering acute care remotely.
Doctors can converse with patients and hospital staff as (seen here in the video) and can be seen on a large LCD screen at the top of the robot. For private conversations, a telephone can be pulled out of the bot for patients to speak with doctors one-on-one.

Doctors also have access to patients’ vital signs and the results of tests, scans and labs through the iPad interface.
