Yes, its very real my earthlings friends!  The Mars One mission is no longer science fiction and this is history in the making. Its an opportunity for the next giant leap for mankind to go above and beyond the boundaries of our own imagination and kick start a colony on Mars.

A flight on a spaceship taking 7 months to reach our red planet neighbour (MARS) with a crew of 4 (2 woman and 2 men) and 4 more crew members sent to Mars every 2 years after.

A Dutch company called Mars One began looking Monday for volunteer astronauts to fly to Mars. Departure for the Red Planet is scheduled for 2022, landing seven months later in 2023.

Check out this first video showing how Mars One plans to establish a human settlement on Mars in 2023.

Here's what it says on the Mars One website www.mars-one.com

Mars 2023: Inhabitants Wanted
Mars One will establish a permanent human settlement on Mars. We invite you to participate by sharing our vision with your friends, and, perhaps, by becoming the next Mars astronaut yourself.
This is for real people! You can apply to be a Mars applicants here

This second video your about to see is an introduction - Inhabitants Wanted.

The space travellers will be headed to Mars on a one way ticket, never to return to Earth.

The company said it has received more than 10,000 e-mails from interested people.
It's actually a lot more than that a I have seen 10 pages of video submissions on the site

Mars one is a not for profit organization and is seeking private investors, some which have already signed up.

This third Video is the current press conference - The start of its astronaut selection program at a press conference in New York on April 22nd 2013

Bas Lansdorp - co-founder or Mars One says

We will finance this mission by creating the biggest media event ever around. Every body in the world can see everything that will happen in the preparations and on Mars. Bas maintained that "no new inventions are needed to land humans on Mars."
Gerard 't Hooft - Nobel prize winner 1999 -Theoretical Physicist and Ambassador of
Mars One says
My first reaction was this is not going to work. But now look and listen more closely. This is really something that can be achieved. I think this might become the most spectacular media event ever. Watched by every one on the globe. He makes references to Big Brother.

The one-way ticket makes the mission possible because it greatly reduces costs, and the technology for a return flight doesn't exist.

NASA says: Yes, Mars could have hosted life.

I recently watched a documentary about possible life on Mars in the deep underground caves of mars. So ask yourself this question.... Would you like to Live on Mars? I think it would be amazing to be a pioneer of this new journey in our solar system.

If you have already applied to be on this mission we would love to hear from you.
Please comment on this post and Good luck to all earthling spheroids who are brave enough to take a leap into the future for all human civilization. Well done to all of you #1love

So, finally Martians will really exist but not your little green men variety.
