10 Twitter Tips for Beginners in Promotion and Marketing - utopia au

Twitter is an excellent way to share information quickly and its usually a ton of fun if you get involved and read your twitter feed to see what people are tweeting about.
 Every one wants #followers whether your into social media, promotion, marketing or just want to see what your friends or favorite people are up to. We have been on twitter since 2010 and have not rushed to get followers. In fact we have grown the majority our following naturally. This takes a very long time and you need a lot of patience. By now most of you know there are several programs out there to assist you with twitter and gaining followers.

We have put a few #TwitterTips together for you to have a better twitter experience.


1.   Give your Twitter Followers original content to view.
Be original in your tweet so you don't look like the rest of the sheep. baaaaaa! lol

2.   Be creative with your words since Twitter only allows 140 characters.
Example:
 GOOD Hello to all my twitter followers. I encourage you to take a look at blahhh...
 BAD    Check out this out blahhh...

3.   Make sure you leave enough characters for people to #ReTweet or respond on the Tweet.
I know its very difficult to only type 140 characters but do allow at least 6-10 characters space.
You can shorten your links using Bitly, google or Tiny url.

4.   Do not over use Hash Tags #
There is nothing worse than seeing a tweet all in #hashtags. Not only is it a turn off to read, it's also showing how desperate you are for people to see your tweet and you don't want that. Try using no more than 3 x #.

5.   If you want some one to follow you on twitter then the best practice we have discovered is to try Twitter etiquette.

• Ask politely for a follow back. This usually works a treat. If they do not follow you back, don't stress. There are millions of people out there in the twitter universe who will follow you if you are interesting. ;) 

• Try using Twitter search for a more targeted following.
• Check who to follow on the left of the twitter home screen. 
• Follow people in your niche
• Follow the followers of your niche 

Say for example your niche is music. Part of our promotion and marketing consists of  representing  music artists etc. What we do is follow the followers of our artists so we can relay information to them. We simply go to the artists twitter profile @tundeakinsanmi then follow his followers.

They usually follow back as soon as they see our twitter profile  following them. They see my profile info and it contains the hash tag #tunde music and the artists twitter user name. This is the perfect way to gather followers together and promote the artists music and social media links. Give the followers creative and valuable info that they are sure to enjoy!

6.   Read the Twitter feed

Reading what people are tweeting is an excellent way to Interact with your twitter followers. This is the key to getting to know your audience. Reading the twitter feed is what most people do to see whats going on. Now is your chance to capture their attention buy RT something they said which is interesting and making a comment on their tweet. This usually results in that person tweeting back to you.

7.    If some one follows you, do not send an auto message to them unless you think hard about what you want to say. Twitter messages such as just sending a link with no other info, or share my blog, share my site, share my music will only get you un followed quick smart. Believe me its extremely annoying and rude. It is wasting a persons time having to check through DM's that sound like a demand. Twitter Etiquette is important. No body wants to loose followers.

8.   Make your twitter profile & design appealing. Always use a profile picture as most egg profiles will be ignored. See example

9.   If you are into promotion and you blast out the same message to every one of your twitter followers STOP! We are not robots, we are people and we will not help you. Why should we?
Did you mention us? Are you paying us to retweet and share your post? No. One thing about twitter is if you tweet to a professional on twitter they will go to your tweets, check out how many people you tweeted that same message to and unfollow you. Word!

10.   Give a "Shout Out" to your followers, after all every one likes to feel special. ;)
