 Australia's Piracy Crackdown now loading... The Piracy Crackdown is coming as early as this week! Media industry lobbying against online piracy is intensifying, amid growing expectations the Abbott government will move shortly to clamp down on internet service providers.

One is internet service providers being required to issue warnings to people who repeatedly download illegally. Its called "Three Strikes" and your out. The other is forcing ISPs to block file-sharing websites such as Pirate Bay.

It is said that Australians are among the biggest pirates per capita. The debate continues about whether this is driven by opportunism, the delays for overseas content to reach here, or an aversion to the country's higher prices.

I don't fully agree that Australia is amongst the biggest pirates. I have been working in the music entertainment industry as an online journalist, social media guru doing promotion and marketing etc and have the music artists copyright & royalties in mind and see a large volume of fans purchasing music online.

Yes music artists put alot of music out there online for free download which in some cases how they start to trend online. The fans are rewarded these days by the artists. 

Stopping someone from downloading free music (with the artists permission) will kill off any chance for fans to connect with their favorite artists' latest free song.

Its also safe to say that when an artists content is posted to youtube, soundcloud, reverbnation even facebook you can embed the video or audio code into any webpage. Does this also count when supporting and sharing music or video for free?
